Drawbridge

▶ Play

In Drawbridge the leaves of the bridge are your phone's hinge. Ships want to pass along the canal and cars want to cross the bridge. When a ship comes you raise the bridge and when it has passed you lower it again; but raise it with a car on it and the car falls into the water. A game of planning and timing.

How to play

  1. Put the phone flat open on a table: the bridge is down and cars cross.
  2. When a ship approaches, fold the phone: the bridge rises. Each ship shows how far the bridge needs to open.
  3. Before a ship arrives a blue warning lights up at the end of the canal. From then until the ship has passed, no new cars enter the road.
  4. Fold slightly and the light turns red so no new car enters. Once the bridge is empty, raise it fully.

Tips

Why does it get harder?

As the game goes on, traffic gets heavier, trucks appear and eventually two ships can come at once. The time between the ship warning and the ship reaching the bridge also gets shorter. At higher levels good players keep the bridge clear before a ship is even visible and let cars through in waves.

What do you need?

Katla games run in the browser; there is nothing to download or install. The games read the phone's fold angle from its motion sensor, so they play best on foldable phones such as the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip. On a phone that doesn't fold you can tilt the phone with your wrist instead of moving the top half, and most games can also be played by tapping the screen. Motion sensors only work over a secure connection (https).
