Guillotine

▶ Play

Guillotine is a paper cutter. A fixed blade sits in the middle of the table, and each sheet of paper appears at a random position and angle. Your job is to line up the red dashed line on the paper exactly with the blade and fold the phone to cut. It is a timed game of judging by eye and steady hands.

How to play

  1. Drag the paper with your finger to move it around the table.
  2. Rotate the paper with two fingers or with the ↺ ↻ buttons on screen.
  3. Line up the red dashed line with the blade line in the middle. You decide when it is lined up; the game gives no hints.
  4. Fold the phone and open it quickly: the blade drops. The CUT button on screen or the space bar on a keyboard also cuts.

Tips

How is the score calculated?

For every cut, the game measures how far each end of the line is from the blade. If both ends are within a few pixels, the cut counts as perfect and gets the top score. The score drops as the error grows, and above a limit the cut counts as bad. The game starts with 25 seconds and lasts until the clock runs out; because good cuts extend the time, a good player can keep going for a long while.

What do you need?

Katla games run in the browser; there is nothing to download or install. The games read the phone's fold angle from its motion sensor, so they play best on foldable phones such as the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip. On a phone that doesn't fold you can tilt the phone with your wrist instead of moving the top half, and most games can also be played by tapping the screen. Motion sensors only work over a secure connection (https).
