Paper Plane

▶ Play

Paper Plane is played with a paper plane flying across a school notebook page. You have to steer it through the gaps between pencils, and every gap passed is a point. Each short, quick flick of the phone's top half is one flap of the plane's wings.

How to play

  1. Hold the phone half folded or put it on a table.
  2. Flick the top half briefly and quickly: each flick is a flap and the plane climbs.
  3. If you don't flap, the plane slowly descends.
  4. Don't touch the pencils or the table. If the sensor doesn't work, tap the screen to fly.

Tips

Why a foldable phone?

Paper Plane turns a quick hinge movement into a flap; it detects movement away from wherever the phone last rested, whatever its posture. That means you can play with the phone half folded or flat on a table. The game combines the well-known flapping-bird dynamic with a physical movement.

What do you need?

Katla games run in the browser; there is nothing to download or install. The games read the phone's fold angle from its motion sensor, so they play best on foldable phones such as the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip. On a phone that doesn't fold you can tilt the phone with your wrist instead of moving the top half, and most games can also be played by tapping the screen. Motion sensors only work over a secure connection (https).
