In Safe Cracker the hinge of your phone is the dial of a safe. To find the combination you rely more on your ears and fingers than your eyes: every number clicks, and as you get closer to the right one the click gets deeper and the phone vibrates. A calm puzzle for players who like to concentrate.
How to play
- Put the phone flat open on a table and press ⟲ 180°. The dial starts at 0.
- Fold the phone slowly. The dial turns and you hear a click at every number.
- As you near the right number the click gets deeper, the phone vibrates and the stethoscope on screen fills up.
- Hold the phone still on the right number. When the ring fills, a pin drops. When all pins have dropped, open the phone fully and the safe door opens.
- On later safes, follow the arrow: with ↻ arrive by folding, with ↺ arrive by opening.
Tips
- Turn the sound up and use headphones if you can; the change in sound is noticeable earlier than the vibration.
- The dial has 40 numbers, about 2 degrees each. Fold too fast and you will pass the right number.
- When the stethoscope starts to fill, almost stop and move one degree at a time.
- Arriving from the wrong direction doesn't drop the pin. If the arrow shows ↺, fold a little too far first, then open back onto the number.
Is it like a real safe?
The game imitates the basic idea of mechanical safes: as the dial passes close to the right number, the mechanism inside makes a tiny difference that a careful ear can hear. Here that difference comes as pitch, vibration and the stethoscope meter. Each safe needs several pins, and on later safes the direction you arrive from becomes part of the rule.
What do you need?
Katla games run in the browser; there is nothing to download or install. The games read the phone's fold angle from its motion sensor, so they play best on foldable phones such as the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip. On a phone that doesn't fold you can tilt the phone with your wrist instead of moving the top half, and most games can also be played by tapping the screen.
