Fold Rhythm

▶ Play

Fold Rhythm turns your phone into a rhythm instrument. The wave on screen is the line your hinge has to draw: fold when an orange note arrives, open when a blue one does. The music and notes are generated by code inside the game; the goal is to hit as many notes as possible right on time.

How to play

  1. Put the phone flat open on a table and press ⟲ 180°.
  2. Fold when an orange note reaches the line, open when a blue note does.
  3. For long bar notes, keep the phone folded until the bar ends.
  4. Your own movement shows up as a white trail; try to make it run over the notes.
  5. On a touch screen, pressing counts as folding and releasing counts as opening.

Tips

Why does latency matter?

Phones' motion sensors, screens and speakers all have different delays. The same movement can look on time on one phone and late on another. The latency setting closes that gap. It is saved on your phone, so once it is right you don't have to adjust it again.

What do you need?

Katla games run in the browser; there is nothing to download or install. The games read the phone's fold angle from its motion sensor, so they play best on foldable phones such as the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip. On a phone that doesn't fold you can tilt the phone with your wrist instead of moving the top half, and most games can also be played by tapping the screen. Motion sensors only work over a secure connection (https).
